About Me

My name is Simone Graham-Bickham, I am wife, mother of 1 life changing toddler. I went to college for Africana Studies in hopes of becoming an intercultural trainer (which can still happen) but life started life-ing and courses changed. I got pregnant during the pandemic of 2020 and in the last few months of pregnancy a friend from high school who was a doula reached out, and she became my long distanced doula. I wish we had more time together, and were more hands on, but the information she did send me was very helpful and being checked on as a new mom felt really good. That's what kind of inspired me to become a doula, the "i wish". And enjoy talking about having babies, something that only happened after I gave birth, I love hearing others moms stories and the journey they had to bring a new human in this world, it's nothing less than life changing.

I was trained by Sokana Collective during a training facilitated by Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) for Better Birth. I learned how to be a doula through the scope of Birth Justice. Birth Justice is a component of reproductive justice, which is the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent existing children in safe and sustainable communities. I want the people in my community and people who look like me to have better birth outcomes. So, I am a certified yoga instructor turned certified Full Spectrum Birth Justice Doula, here to serve you through your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.

Services

Prenatal

There will be 2-3 prenatal visits via online or in person where I will share some prenatal, birth and postpartum education and resources, teach hands on comfort measures of labor and labor positions, and  create a birth plan (includes postpartum plan). During this time you can contact me with any questions or concerns you have and I will do my best to help you find the best answer/solution for you and your family.

Labor and Delivery

I will be on call starting week 36 of your pregnancy because its getting close. I will be there for emotional and physical support all through-out labor. I will be there to help you advocate for the best birth for you.

Postpartum

There will be 2 initial visits in the first 2 weeks and you can pick if you would like me to visit the following 4 weeks. The first 6 weeks of postpartum is when most people need that extra support, emotionally and physically. I'll be there to give simple lactation advice, address any concerns, and go over the life changing  journey that you have just experienced.
